Monday Mindboggler

On Monday we launched a new weekly mind boggler

The aim of this is to not only keep our minds sharp but to focus on words from the dictionary. It’s all too easy to ask Alexa or Google to help us spell out a word, or learn its meaning. In our Facebook live video on Friday, we told you all about the new feature, The Grammar Guru. You’ll find a new grammar post every Wednesday, where we aim to help you with grammar.

The Grammar Guru

This feature came about with talking about our love of words, and, of course, good grammar. We are often sent stories that contain mistakes, and although we process just under 5 million words a year, we pick them up as they go through the editing process.

As our Alan says in the Facebook Live video, nothing gets in the way of a good story, and we adhere to that at the “Friend”. Your writing will always be read, and the decision will always be made on the story.

The Grammar Guru is here to answer the questions you have before you ask them!

Next up

Next on our list to explain are misrelated participles, commas, semi-colons, colons, hyphens and quotation marks. Our list will grow from there, but if you have an idea that you feel we simply must cover then please do contact us.

We are more than happy to take suggestions, and of course, do try to join in on our Monday Mind Boggler on Facebook. If you are a keen writer, and are looking to meet other writers and learn from their experiences, you should join our writing community on Twitter. We hold two weekly chats, on Tuesdays and Fridays, where we talk about the nuts and bolts of being a writer.

The “Friend” is here to support your writing journey as much as it’s here to support your reading journey!
