About Comments

You’ll have noticed that our website has had a spiffy makeover and it’s now called The People’s Friend Online.

What do you think of it? As a reader, it’s much easier for you to navigate. As writers of blogposts, it’s much easier for us, too, to put content on and have it looking fab. Which means there’s loads more content going on it.

But, have you noticed that we’ve lost the comments facility?  I didn’t often get comments on my old Fiction Ed’s blog, to be honest. But I went on the no news is good news theory. And I liked knowing that you could if you wanted to. And every so often I would receive a query from an aspiring writer, posting a question about writing, submitting, styles, genres, or their contract. And although it sometimes took me a while to spot the comment, I would do my best to reply. And sometimes it was other writers who would reply, offering help and encouragement.

I liked the interactivity of it. And as an old boss of mine used to say regularly, our business is communication.

But at the moment none of that can happen. When the new site was built our tech bods feared that we’d be inundated with spam, as so many sites are, and were doing their best to save us from it. But we miss it and have pleaded with them, and the tech bods they say yes! But it’ll take a little time to build it in.

So, in the meantime, remember our Twitter #PFWritingHours. At 11 am on Tuesdays, the Fiction Team’s Tracey sits with fingers twitching ready to answer your fiction questions. And then Features Ed Alex takes up the same hashtag at the same time on Thursdays for any Features queries. And you can always message us on Facebook, too.
