classic sweater

By popular demand, we have a classic 4-ply sweater for you this week.

Our 4-ply sweater features a lace panel and raglan shaping, giving a contemporary look to a classic design.

We have chosen King Cole Merino Blend 4-ply Superwash Wool for this design.

The yarn is a 100% blended merino wool, which as well as being beautifully soft, can also be washed in the washing machine, making it a great choice for a sweater.

We love the shade, Cinnamon (3298), and there is a wide selection of colours to choose from if this autumnal shade is not your choice.

To view the range available and find a stockist, visit www.kingcole.com.

We have graded this design as intermediate. The lace panels are worked over 15 stitches and 12 rows and feature on the back as well as the front. They continue on the sleeves.

Our sweater comes in five sizes ranging from 76/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 117/122 (46/48 ins).  Actual size is around 15/10 cm (6/4 ins) bigger giving a comfortable fit.

Remember you will need finer needles, too – one pair each of 2.75 mm (No. 12) and 3.25 mm (No. 10).

When you need an extra layer that looks stylish and offers warmth without bulk, this is the ideal choice.

The knitting pattern for this sweater appears in this week’s issue of “The People’s Friend”, on sale from Wednesday.
