There’s a pattern for a lovely lace sweater with raglan sleeves in this week’s issue of “The People’s Friend”.
We are answering your requests this week with our lacy sweater. We have included larger sizes and we have a raglan, which many of you love.
This sweater ranges in size from 86/91 cm (34/36 ins) to 137/142 cm (54/56 ins). Actual size is around 13/8 cm (5/3 ins) larger so we would suggest you make your usual size.
The lace pattern is worked front and back, and follows a six-row repeat. The lace panel consists of 15 stitches. The sleeves come to just below the elbow and you work them in stocking-stitch (knit one row, purl one row).
We have graded this top as intermediate because of the lace and twist stitches but there is nothing too daunting, just keep a count of your stitches as you work.
The yarn we have used is Rico Creative Lazy Hazy Summer Cotton DK in the shade Buttercream (009). This cotton-rich yarn is great for warmer days.
The variegated effect is created by the combination of a solid core colour wrapped in a contrasting shade and if you would like another colour, there is a good selection available. To view them, and to order direct, visit www.blacksheepwools.com.
This is a very comfortable, practical lace sweater which will show off your knitting skills perfectly.
