Knitting Preview: December 22 Issue

We have two lovely designs this issue – a chunky gilet and a ribbed sweater.

The Technical Stuff

The gilet is worked in five sizes ranging from 81/86 cm (32/34 ins) to 122/127 cm (48/50 ins). Actual size is approx. 8 cm (3 ins) bigger than the larger of the grouped sizes.

The yarn used is Rico Essential Alpaca Blend Print Chunky which created a tweedy effect as it is worked. We have selected a blue mix but there are other print shades to choose from or you can opt for a solid shade. Three buttons complete the look.

We have teamed the gilet with a lovely ribbed sweater. They are not a set but we think they look great together. However, each will look great singly, too.

What Lies Beneath

The sweater is worked in Rico Design Silky Touch DK. We have used Silver Grey but there are plenty of other shades available, too. This yarn is great value and the first three sizes can be worked for around £20.

The sizes are the same as the gilet.

We have marked both as intermediate but there is nothing too tricky. The gilet has pockets to be placed and the sweater has a twist pattern running up the front and back. This is worked over a two row repeat and is not challenging.

Whether you want to knit one or both of these designs, you will have a seasonal winner.
