Knitting A Cardigan: How To
Difficulty: Intermediate
We have a cardigan for all seasons this week.
Antique Cream is the shade we have selected for this week’s cardigan, which features an eyelet pattern running vertically up from the rib to the shoulders.
Instructions are for six sizes ranging from 76/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 127/132 cm (50/52 ins). Actual size is around 17/12 cm (6¾/4¾ ins) bigger so we would recommend you knit your usual size.
The yarn used is King Cole Timeless Chunky, a soft yarn featuring premium acrylic and alpaca. You will need 6 – 8 x 100-g balls to make your cardigan. This is a great value yarn and you can make the first two sizes for just over £20.
To finish off your cardigan you will need five buttons. Our buttons came from www.duttonsforbuttons.co.uk who have a huge selection available.
We have graded this cardigan as an intermediate design. The eyelet pattern features a two-row repeat using standard lace stitches.
You work the front bands after the garment is finished and stitch on to complete the look.
This really is a cardigan for all times of the year, perfect when you feel you need an extra layer. And with us all watching the pennies just now, it is great value, too.
