Fiction Sneak Peek: September 3, 2022 Issue


Welcome to our weekly peek at the fiction in our latest issue.

Our Opening story is “Under The Harvest Moon” by Becca Robin – set in 1885.  A lovespoon tells of Isaac’s feelings, but can he find the courage to present it to Miriam? With lovely artwork from Mandy Dixon (above).

A couple do a life swap – but there’s method in the madness, in Jacqui Cooper’s “A Turnabout Challenge”. Artwork from Ruth Blair.

For Lynette and her family, “Granny’s Table” is so much more than just a piece of furniture. By Eirin Thompson.

We welcome a debut author next – Mary Hudson. In Mary’s short story, “A Perfect Blend”, Emma makes apple juice for her village – but there’s an apple their on the loose! With artwork by James Dewar.

In Teresa Ashby’s “Look To The Future”, there’s something very familiar about Joanna’s new neighbours…artwork from Helen Welsh.

Retiree, Polly, is ready to head to the hills – but she needs to find the right company, first. Written by Alison Carter, it features artwork from Sarah Holliday.

In our final story of this issue, Maeve loves living in her terraced street – it’s where all her special memories were made. By Alyson Hilbourne, with artwork by Manon Gandiolle.

In Part 2 of “This Place We Call Home”, Ross hopes his boys love their trip with their dad, as much as he did with his. By Rebecca Holmes, illustrations are by Ruth Blair.
