Craft Preview: January 16, 2021 Issue

craft preview

We have a treat for embroidery fans in this week’s craft preview: two floral bookmarks to make.

Our bookmarks are worked in cross stitch and straight stitch throughout, and are both pretty and practical.

We have used DMC six stranded embroidery thread in a selection of 11 colours worked on DMC Antique White Aida, 18 count. You will need 15 cm x 25 cm (6 ins x 10 ins) for each bookmark. You could use a bigger count fabric but remember it will give you a bigger finished size.

Alternatively, these designs would be lovely on table or bed linen.

In addition, you will need a No. 26 cross-stitch needle, an embroidery hoop (optional), backing fabric or felt and a tassel for each bookmark. You can either buy a ready-made one or make your own.

The designs are taken from the book, “Romantic Flowers In Cross Stitch” by Suzanna Lima which is published by Tuva, RRP £14.95.

It is available from selected craft shops, all good bookshops or online retailers.

We have marked these designs “Easy”, as there are no partial stitches.

We think they are the perfect little project and hope you like them, too.
