Willie’s View: Kilmany In Fife

Kilmany

I walked across the hill from The Gauldry to the quiet Fife village of Kilmany today, and found myself in the right place at just the right time.

Anyone into landscape photography will appreciate the value of that. Sometimes only a few seconds either way can make all the difference.

Of course, no-one coming to Kilmany can leave without paying a visit to the statue of her greatest son — the racing legend Jim Clark. Clark was Formula 1 world champion twice in his short career, and also finished top in the Indianapolis 500 in 1965.

When I went to take a photograph of the statue, you can imagine my surprise at finding a wee red sports car parked in front of it!

It wasn’t just any old sports car though, but the very Lotus Elan given to Jim by Colin Chapman, the founder of Lotus, in 1962.
