A Weekend With Warner

the peoples friend warners break

Jacki takes over the Team Blog this week

I have just returned to the “Friend” office after having the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Alvaston Hall Hotel in Cheshire, with Warner Leisure Hotels.

We recently gave our readers the chance to book a weekend away at this lovely hotel, where they could enjoy everything that Warner have to offer, with the added bonus of some very special “Friend” additions.

Despite the fact that I was technically “working”, I could not have had a more enjoyable weekend!

An enjoyable weekend

If you’ve stayed at a Warner Leisure Hotel before, then you will already know the host of fun activities available, as well as the varied entertainment put on every evening.

During the day you could take part in archery, rifle shooting, falconry, curling, an open dance floor, a pub quiz and a walk around the grounds or into nearby Nantwich amongst many others. There is also a leisure club and day spa, if you fancy treating yourself.

For those of us who love the dance floor, the Grove ballroom was the place to be in the evenings, with live music and dancing. For those who prefer a quieter night, in different areas of the hotel you could enjoy a late night film, watch live football, or enjoy a cosy night in the bar with easy listening live music.

Meet the Editor

“The People’s Friend” readers were also treated to a craft session with my colleagues and me, a talk by well-known and much-loved “Friend” travel writer Neil McAllister, a coach trip to the nearby town of Nantwich, and a special garden tour given by one of the groundsmen.

Last but not least was a special afternoon tea with our wonderful editor Angela, who travelled down on Sunday afternoon to meet our readers. With many cups of tea, and more than a few pieces of cake, shortbread and fudge up for grabs, this was by far my favourite part of the trip!

All in all it was an amazing weekend which I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Oh, I forgot to mention the food! It was fabulous!

Our next one is pencilled in for November . . . where do I sign up?

Don’t just take my word for it, here are Margaret & Kirsty’s thoughts. And, find out about our next weekend away here
