Willie’s View: A Break In Johnshaven

Johnshaven

Having spent most of the day exploring old Aberdeen, including a walk out to the quaint village of Fitdee, it was tempting to just sit down for a while on the sandy beach down by the waterfront.

At the same time, though, I was keen to avoid being caught up in the rush hour traffic. Last time that happened, my car took ill and switched itself to 30mph limp mode. Was I popular!

It was far too nice to head for home yet, so I decided to leave the main A90 and follow the coastal road south past Dunnottar Castle; through Inverbervie and to stop for that rest at the fishing village of Johnshaven.

Of course, with all the colourful boats in the harbour and fishermen busy cleaning piles of creels on the quayside, that sit-down would just have to wait a wee while longer . . .
