The RSPB Launches #MyWorldNow

The Royal Society For The Protection Of Birds (RSPB) has launched a brand new campaign encouraging us all to share the new things we’ve noticed about the world around us during lockdown.

We’ve been reading recently that the strange circumstances of the coronavirus restrictions have led to a greater appreciation of our green spaces, and of exercise and physical activity.

Both of these are important for maintaining our mental wellbeing.

But the lack of distractions and demands on our time have also led to new “discoveries”, like the flowers on a local verge, or the wildlife that frequents a nearby park.

And noticing these little things, that we might so often miss or take for granted, can prove very beneficial.

“Connecting with the natural world is more important than ever,” Adam Murray, Head of Community Empowerment at the RSPB, said.

“Over the last few months, as we juggled work, family life and wellbeing, all from the confines of home, the natural world became a playground, a gym, a tonic, and much more besides. But while our lives have changed, the threats to nature have not gone away.

What have you started to value?

“We’d love you to share the new things you have noticed and started to appreciate more in your world – large and small. Whether it’s cleaner air, the wildlife in your local park or getting creative in your support of the natural world, we’d love to hear about it. We want to know what you’ve started to value during these strange times.”

The campaign runs from July 3-31.

To get involved, share your story and photos using #MyWorldNow on social media.

And don’t forget to share the campaign with friends and family, and encourage them to post about what they’ve been noticing and appreciating in their world.
