The Fiction team always have their heads stuck in books, so we thought we’d tell you what we’re all reading outside of working time at the minute.

Since we’re still in lockdown, we’ve had more time to watch TV, too . . . this is why we all have terrible eyesight!

Abbie

I’m reading the book club book, “Girl A” by Abigail Dean, and watching Marvel’s “WandaVision” on Disney+!

“WandaVision” is a mind-bending TV show where nothing is quite what it seems. You probably need to have watched the Marvel Cinematic Universe films for the context . . .

Oh, we’ve managed to work our way through every episode of “Taskmaster” as well. So much fun to watch.

Manon

I’m reading “Unlocking German” by Paul Noble.

Not fiction, but a great start when you want to learn German.

It will boost your confidence by teaching you the similarities between English and German, thus showing you that because half of the words are roughly similar you shouldn’t have THAT much trouble learning the language . . .

I’m actually re-watching all the “How I Met Your Mother” episodes. I feel like I’m travelling back in time, but it’s light-hearted and nice to watch

Lucy

I’ve just finished reading Richard Osman’s “The Thursday Murder Club“, and I am writing a review, and I’ve just started reading Monique Roffey’s “The Mermaid Of Black Conch“.

I’ve just finished watching “The Crown“, and the three-part “The Rise Of The Murdoch Dynasty“, and am working my way through Andrew Graham-Dixon’s “Art Of Spain” on DVD.

I’m also making my way through Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli’s “Sicily Unpacked“, because one day I hope holidays will be possible!

Alan

I’m not reading any novels at the moment, but I am browsing through a little book entitled “Literary Trivia” — over 300 curious lists for bookworms.

It’s fun and interesting, and it’s a goldmine for blog post ideas!

I’m also watching “Rob & Romesh Vs” on Sky. Hilarious.

Tracey

I’m halfway through “Daughters Of Night” by Laura Shepherd-Robinson.

It’s the follow-up to the amazing “Blood And Sugar”, and I’ll be reviewing it when I’ve finished.

On TV I’m engrossed in the second series of “For All Mankind”, and I’m loving “Britain’s Most Historic Towns”, presented by Alice Roberts.

Tracey Steel

Having worked on a number of magazines over the years, I have found my perfect place on the “Friend” as I’m obsessed with reading and never go anywhere without a book! I read all of our stories with a mug of tea close by and usually a bit of strong cheese too!
