Teresa Ashby: “A National Treasure Of A Magazine”
As part of our 150th celebrations, we thought it would be a good idea to ask our writers what the “Friend” means to them. Here, frequent contributor Teresa Ashby shares her thoughts:
“I became a ‘Friend’ reader in the 1980s. I was researching the magazine with a view to, one day, writing for it. That was when I realised it was very different from all the other magazines.
“In 1991, the ‘Friend’ bought a father’s day story from me, and it was like joining a family. Not just because of the lovely editorial staff, but because of the readers, too. And that feeling has never left me.
“Over the years, the ‘Friend’ has evolved and changed with the times. But the warm heart and uplifting tone never changes.
“There is something very special about this national treasure of a magazine, and I’m delighted to still be contributing as it celebrates its 150th anniversary.”
