Important News For Our Subscribers

subscribers

Our subscribers are very important to us here at the “Friend”.

And that’s why we have some important news!

Those of you who receive your copies of “The People’s Friend” and its Specials by post will know that every copy is sent out to you in a plastic wrapper.

This does a great job of keeping your magazine in pristine condition. But many readers have told me they are concerned that it comes at a cost to the environment. The plastic wrappers are recyclable — but only along with carrier bags at larger supermarkets.

We have taken these concerns seriously. And as a result, we have been looking closely at the situation for some time now.

We have all become more aware of the negative environmental impact of single-use plastic. But plastic can be a useful material. Finding a sustainable and reliable alternative is not always simple.

Sometimes the options that initially look more environmentally friendly come with their own problems . . .

However, I am delighted to say we have a solution.

From the August 15 issue of the weekly and Special 196, all copies posted to our subscribers will arrive in a new paper wrapper.

This has been sustainably sourced and is fully recyclable.

I hope you approve of the change!
