After a few weeks without any interviews, I had another one scheduled for this week.
This time with a very friendly and chatty lady called Esther who works for Women Together, which is the magazine of the Scottish WI. She was so easy to talk to that the time flew by. I’m certainly never stuck for good things to say about the “Friend”!
Top Secret Project
Later in the week, Marion from the Features team and I had a meeting with our colleague Sylwia, who works in our Enterprise department. We wanted to discuss an idea Marion has had for a new book based on “Friend” archive content. I can’t tell you any more than that at the moment – I’m sworn to secrecy! Sylwia loved the idea, so we’ve got the green light to go ahead and start to turn the idea into reality. You’ll hear more about this soon.
As I’ve said before, no two weeks at work are the same for me, which is one of the many things I love about my job. This week, a lot of my time has been taken up with interviewing candidates for our Digital Content Editor vacancy. This is always time well spent. It’s so rewarding to appoint the perfect person to a role and then to welcome them into the team, and I’m delighted to say that we’ve made an appointment. Keep an eye on our website in the weeks to come to find out more.
Lunch With Polly
The week ended with a real treat. Our popular contributor Polly Pullar, who writes our wonderful nature articles, had e-mailed me to say she’d be in Dundee on Friday. Would I like to have lunch with her? I jumped at the chance, and we headed across to the café at the nearby McManus Galleries for soup and sandwiches and a lot of chat. Polly is always great company, and so entertaining. She brought me up to date with the antics of all the animals, and we discussed several new feature ideas that I’m sure you’re going to love.
