My cats are the stars of this Editor’s Diary. And team meetings!
Now they have a new bed. And they absolutely love it!
It was their Christmas present, and I thought long and hard before ordering it.
I had seen these marshmallow cat beds advertised online. They looked super soft and snuggly, and I was almost certain Zorro and Matilda would love one.
But . . . experience has taught me that cats seldom do what you expect. Previous cat beds have not always met with approval.
My pampered pair already have an igloo bed. They prefer squashing it down and sitting on top of it to going inside.
Many years ago, I bought my first cat a hammock-style bed that hooked over the radiator. She refused to go near it, and when I lifted her in she immediately jumped out and sulked for a fortnight.
That bed went to a charity shop, unused and pristine.
This new bed, though, is a success.
Matilda was the first to discover its appeal. Though my two cats are siblings, she is the trailblazer, always ahead of her more hesitant brother.

She quickly made the marshmallow bed her own.
And then, one day a week or so later, I spotted Zorro, looking slightly unsure, sitting bolt upright inside it.

It was a start!
But, of course, I really hoped they’d both cuddle up together in the new bed, just as they do in the basket that used to hold laundry to be ironed before they claimed it.
“There’s no room in that bed for two cats,” Mr PF Ed insisted, even though I had ordered a two-cat size.
And then, a few weeks after the bed first arrived, I took the photo at the top of this post. Two very contented cats!
Now, they are so attached to their bed that hours can go past without me even seeing them.

But really, when they look this cute they can get away with absolutely anything!
