Sir David Attenborough’s birthday is less than a month away, turning 96 on the 8th of May. So, here’s how you can personally wish him a “Happy Birthday!”.
Sir David Attenborough’s Birthday
Sir David Attenborough is the UK’s national treasure. An environmentalist and broadcaster that’s been bringing the wonders of our world to our TV screens for decades. People across the globe of all ages love his iconic voice.
Testament to his contribution to broadcasting, Sir David is the only recipient of a BAFTA in black & white, colour and 3D broadcasting. Furthermore, his career brought him the highest honour of filming with The Queen, for The Queen’s Green Planet in 2018. At the same age, the pair have shared major birthdays and milestones together.
Leave Your Message
As a way to say “thank you”, Thankbox, a digital group card, have organised a public card that anyone in the world can leave a message for Sir David himself.
Not only that, but they’ve teamed up with Fauna & Flora International — a conservation charity that Sir David has been a member of for 60+ years, and Vice President of for 40+ years — to collect donations in his honour. As there are over 40,000 species in danger, through this initiative, FFI hope to raise £10,000.
The Senior Directer of FFI, Jonny Wright, said, “We are thrilled to be supported by Thankbox through this unique and innovative campaign celebrating our vice-president, Sir David Attenborough. We would like to thank everyone at Thankbox — and to all who sign the online card — for their generosity. Their donations will contribute to our work with local communities around the world to protect and restore nature.”
You can leave your message at Thankbox and enjoy the other messages that have been left. The card will close for contributions on the 8th of May.
