Striking A New Pose

yoga on mountains

It with some sadness that I’ve made the decision to leave The People’s Friend team but I’m happy to explain why.

Over the years in my spare time, I’ve enjoyed practicing yoga. It’s always been a great haven to go to redress the work-life balance. Now I’ve made the choice to study the practice fully and train as a Yoga Teacher.  If there was one thing that could lead me away from the peace and tranquility of life in the “Friend” office, it’s even more peace and tranquility!

You’ll know from my posts that I have a vested interest in health and fitness, so I feel super lucky to be able to concentrate on this full time.

Making a career change

Yoga is all about reflecting and meditation.  Creating a space where there was none. It’s not, as Instagram will have you believe, about twisting yourself into knots and taking a selfie on top of mountains. I was just as surprised as you when I realised this. However, I still signed up.

I’m aiming to start teaching part-time in January, in and around the Edinburgh areas.  I’m really looking forward to going back to teaching in a fitness capacity. I used to work as a Fitness Instructor many years ago and know I enjoyed that environment.

Helping people get, and stay, healthy is a great way to spend your time. It’s hard to squeeze a fitness routine into your working week. We’re all so busy living modern lives and we need to be inspired to spend time exerting more energy.

Eating well and living well

Yoga is a great compromise for many as it comes in many forms, and you feel relaxed afterward, not sweaty and red-faced.

As well as yoga, I also have a passion for cooking healthy foods and creating combinations in my kitchen. I’m excited to get to work and experiment with different foodstuffs.

Like any good writer, I also aim to keep a diary of my journey from student to teacher. I think it will prove interesting to see the transition from an old life into a new one.

You’ll of course still be looked after by the lovely team at the “Friend” and continue to enjoy your fiction haven online!
