Liz is joining in the courgette growing contest
Reading all about Shirley and Alex’s courgettes I realised we may be one step ahead! Saturday night’s ratatouille was packed full of home-grown courgettes and our first cucumber was scoffed a couple of weeks ago. Not by me, I may add, I am the sole member of the family not to like cucumber.
However, the tomatoes are coming along very nicely and the cherry ones should be ready soon. As you can see from the photograph, we also have corn, green beans and sunflowers on show.
The beetroot is doing well, too, and our lettuce has finally caught up and is ready to cut. This is so different from last year when we were cropping from May. Mind you the tomatoes were so late in 2017 we had given up on them, but they got there in the end.
You’ll also spot in the photograph the day’s washing. Isn’t it just a joy to know you can hang it out and guarantee it will dry. Well, most of the time . . .
