Q. My summer bedding plants have given me a fantastic display. Can I keep any of these for another year?

September is a good time to ensure you retain the best varieties of perennial summer bedding plants for next year.

Tuberous begonias and dahlias can be lifted, dried off and stored in a frost-free shed till next year.

Geraniums, impatiens and fuchsias can be propagated from cuttings taken now and kept on a window-sill over winter.
