Editor’s Diary: A Coronation Weekend To Remember

This week, my Editor’s Diary is looking back on recent royal events.

The Coronation on May 6 was certainly an impressive spectacle! Did you watch it all on TV from the comfort of your home?

Maybe you were actually there in London to witness events at first hand?

Or perhaps you took part in celebrations in your local community?

However you chose to mark the occasion, I hope you had a wonderful day. It’s just a pity the weather wasn’t kinder!

In my part of east Scotland, the festivities were low key.

There was a Coronation fayre in the local church, and a few neighbours hung bunting on their houses. One lady across the road even had red, white and blue flowers in the tubs by her front door. Although it was slightly disappointing to learn the blooms were artificial!

My favourite royal display, though, was the knitted post box topper in my picture.

My photography skills (or lack of them) really don’t do it justice! It’s a magnificent knitted crown atop a gold-braided cushion.

It has decorated the red post box outside the post office on our main street for several weeks now. And every time I pass it, I am in awe of the skill that has gone into making it. As well as the generosity of the person who made it purely to share with others, to bring a smile to faces.

We have some very talented and big-hearted people in my wee town!
