Three sisters have found a lovely way to remember their mother and support Marie Curie.
Family-run business, Christine’s Wool Shop in Bournville, Birmingham, is selling a special yarn to raise funds for the charity, Marie Curie.
The limited-edition colour-way Signature 4-ply yarn, supplied and designed by West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS), is proving popular and £2 from each ball sold will be donated to Marie Curie, helping the charity to care for more people living with a terminal illness, and their families, in people’s homes and the charity’s hospices across the country.
Giving Something Back
The special project is very close to the heart of sisters, Sally, Caroline and Julie, who run Christine’s Wool Shop. Store manager, Caroline Davis, said: “Our mother, Christine, was cared for by Marie Curie Nurses in her final days. The nurses were so supportive and caring, we wanted to give something back to the charity – and with our love of yarn, we thought this special project was the perfect way.”
This year, the shop is calling on all knitters to support Marie Curie again.
Caroline said: “We are delighted with the response to the initial launch of the yarn and hope to raise more money for this charity who are there for people and their families when they need it the most.”
Marie Curie Colours
The limited-edition yarn features a beautiful mix of yellows and blues and is a 4-ply weight consisting of 75% wool – 25% nylon. The wool content contains 35% luxurious Bluefaced Leicester making this one of the most sumptuous 4-ply products on the market.
It is available in Christine’s Woolshop and through their online store at www.cityknits.co.uk. The yarn retails at £7.20 per 100g ball, with £2 being given directly to Marie Curie from each sale.
