“The People’s Friend” Writing Hour is held every Tuesday at 11 a.m. on Twitter. It’s a time when we can get together with writers for a chat and it’s always heaps of fun!
Every week we summarise everything that went on right here for those who missed out.
How has January been for you so far?
Kitty-Lydia Dye has very good January vibes! It’s exactly a year since her People’s Friend Pocket Novel “Lord Winterton’s Secret” was released! We can’t believe that’s a year either!
Marian Myers has had a short story accepted by us and we’re hoping Mary Jasper’s RSI injury gets better soon.
Do you use your writing as a form of therapy?
Philippa Carey told us this and we’re intrigued! I did write a revenge book in my early days when I was insulted publicly by a famous person. The villain had a name almost the same and got her come-uppance in the book! Never offend an author unless you want to die a horrible literary death!
@JohnDarley11 I write because I enjoy it, but my first ever piece of writing was as a result of tension in the family; it was the best way, for me, of getting it out of my system.
This is one of the most important questions we’ve asked on the #PFWritingHour . . . What is the best biscuit to eat while reading?
Here are just some of the answers! Custard Creams, Bourbons, dark chocolate, shortbread, Rich Tea and Jammy Dodgers!
Who gives you the most encouragement when it comes to your writing?
Aaaw, David Balmer told us . . . Actually, “The People’s Friend”, simply by accepting my stories. My son makes me laugh though. He had to write about his favourite author at school, and he chose me! What better encouragement than that?
We’ll see you at our next Writing Hour on Twitter — 11 a.m. on Tuesday 31 January, 2023.
