Editor’s Diary: It Just Isn’t Cricket (Yet!)

editors diary

Regular readers of my Editor’s Diary will know how much I enjoy going for a long walk in the Scottish countryside.

And this week, ahead of a very busy time in prospect, I headed for the hill behind my house. The above picture shows the view from halfway up.

Isn’t it gorgeous? It was a frosty day, and I could see all the way to distant Schiehallion (on the left of my picture, but very hazy).

The river is the silvery Tay. How lucky am I to have this on my doorstep?

I appreciated this moment of calm in the midst of a flurry of activity.

I spent much of the week putting the last-minute touches to our Warner holiday at Cricket St Thomas.

Every last detail has to be planned for, and this time, because we were flying, we had to be very disciplined in our packing. That meant no jelly pan for Margaret, unfortunately!

This much-loved artefact normally features in her history talk, but was too big to take as easyJet hand luggage!

But by the end of the week, everything was in place. Margaret, Alan, Lucy and I were looking forward to our trip to Somerset, a county I last visited 25 years ago.

By the time you read this, the break will be almost over. I will tell you all about it next week!
