Fiction Ed, Lucy, has news about our Online Writing Workshops to share!
Our Short Story Writing Workshop
Last Wednesday, we held our second-ever Online Short Story Writing Workshop.
This one hadn’t been advertised, as it was especially for all the people on the waiting list, who hadn’t managed to get a space first time round.
And what a day it was!
Live From Dundee
We were broadcasting live from Dundee, home of “The People’s Friend” for 153 years.
Fiction Ed, Lucy, talked about the magazine itself and the writing requirements for submitting fiction.
Established “Friend” author, Alison Carter, shared her experience of successfully submitting short stories.
There was time for practical set exercises, and a Q&A session at the end of the day, too.
A Fantastic Mix
One of the fantastic things about these workshops is the interesting mix of people who take part.
As well as brand-new authors, we had very established “Friend” authors, as well as some newer to the magazine.
And many of the people on the workshop were previously published in other formats, too.
Published or unpublished, everyone has their own story to tell – all are welcome!
And one of the great things about online workshops is that “Friend”s can join us from all around the UK, and beyond.
One author joined us at 4am local time, from Texas!
Exciting News To Share
Thank you so much to Alison, and to everyone who took part.
We had a lovely day, learning and sharing our ideas and our writing.
It’s always good to ‘meet’ everyone, even if it is still virtually, for the moment.
And we have exciting news to share!
We’re planning a new online workshop – focusing on Serial Writing.
Our Serial Writing Workshop
We’ve held Serial Writing Workshops pre-covid, in-person, when previous Fiction Ed, Shirley, was here.
It’s also something that people have requested online, when asked if there are any specific workshops they’d be interested in attending.
So I hope it’s something that might appeal.
Save The Date
We’ll let you know here once our Eventbrite page is up and running, for bookings.
For now, you might like to ‘save the date’
Our Serial Writing Workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 28.
Hope you can join us!
