Knitting A Striped Sweater: How To

Difficulty: Intermediate

We have a lovely striped sweater for you this week.

Our sweater features a self-striping yarn. That means no colour changes; the yarn, Rico Design Creative Cotton Stripes DK does it all for you.

The yarn is 100 % cotton and we have chosen the shade Candy (007) but there is a good selection to choose from if you would prefer another colourway.

Sizes range from 81 cm (32 ins) to 117 cm (46 ins). Actual size is around 10 cm (4 ins) bigger giving a comfortable fit and we would recommend working your usual size.

Most of the top is worked in stocking-stitch (knit one row, purl one row), with lace patterning across the yoke. This is worked over an 11-stitch pattern repeat and 8 rows and you will need to use a cable needle.

For this reason, we have graded the top as Intermediate. On the plus side, there is very little shaping to do.

Whether you plan to wear this top for smart or casual wear (or both!), it will make a great addition to your wardrobe. We love it and hope you do, too.

Send in yours!
