Welcome back to another Writing Hour Roundup.

“The People’s Friend” Writing Hour is held every Tuesday at 11 a.m. on Twitter and it’s always a brilliant time! It’s a time when we can get together with writers for a chat.

Every week we summarise everything that went on for those who missed out.

This week we’re talking about current reads, cruise ship stories and strangest research topics.

How is everyone? What’s your news from the past seven days?

Jubilee weekend is still on everybody’s mind – Prince Louis’ antics and the Queen’s afternoon tea with Paddington being at the forefront! What an amazing celebration to experience during our lifetime.

Somehow some of you also managed to get some writing and editing done!

Out of everything you’ve written, what’s your favourite story?

Lots of you said the first story you had accepted for the “Friend”!

We’d be hard pressed to pick a favourite story that we’ve read from our writers. The quality is truly top notch.

What’s everyone reading at the moment and would you recommend it?

Here’s the breakdown of genres our writers are reading this week!

The books our writers are reading by genre.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve researched for a story?

These are by far the weirdest and funniest answers we’ve seen during Writing Hour!

Now that things are slowly getting back to normal, do you find you have less time for writing and reading?

Most of you have found that although life is getting busier, that you can still find the time for reading and writing.

Angie Keeler summed it up!

Jenny Worstall had a good point:

If you were asked to write a story set on a cruise ship, would you make it contemporary or historical? Romance or crime?

We’re absolutely interested in reading cruise ship stories! The ideas in the thread are brilliant!

This might be our favourite idea though . . .

We’ll see you at our next Writing Hour on Twitter — 11 a.m. on Tuesday 14 June, 2022.
