Richard Osman’s all-star cast for the film adaption of his hit debut novel ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ have come together to start filming the highly-anticipated film.
It was confirmed over the weekend that “The Thursday Murder Club is officially in production!” by the Netflix UK X account.
Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie will be playing the four main protagonists.
Doctor Who star, David Tennant, is the latest actor announced for the Netflix adaptation based on the novel series by Richard Osman. On the latest episode of his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Osman said Tennant’s role is still undisclosed, but is “very, very excited” to have him on board.
The author and presenter also recently announced on the podcast that Celia Emrie was joining the cast.
“Joyce is Celia Emrie, which I’m very excited about. She’s so mischievous,” he said.

Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce will play Elizabeth’s (Helen Mirren) husband, while another Doctor Who star Naomi Ackie has been cast as police officer Donna de Freitas.
Danny Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes are also in the movie in more undisclosed roles.
Famous director Chris Columbus – ‘Home Alone’, ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ and the first two ‘Harry Potter’ movies – is writing and directing the film, while Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment company is producing it.
Quite the line-up!
“There’s some great names and some more names coming, as well,” Richard Osmond said.
“I think this is the greatest British cast assembled since the [Harry Potter] movies.”

The ‘Pointless’ host’s debut novel ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ was an instant hit. In fact, it’s the fastest-selling adult crime debut ever.
Set in the fictional Kentish town of Fairhaven, the plot follows a group of friends solving murder mysteries from the comfort of their in a retirement home. What begins as a bit of fun, quickly turns into getting caught up in a real murder close to home.
The novel was so popular with publishers that it resulted in a 10-way bidding war before being sold to Penguin. ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ went on to sell around 45,000 copies in its first three days of release in 2020.
All of this success was followed by a book series which consists of four novels, so far. This includes ‘The Man Who Died Twice’, ‘The Bullet That Missed’, and ‘The Last Devil to Die’. The series as a whole has sold more than 10 million copies globally.
Fans of the series are highly anticipating a fifth instalment planned for publication next year.
