How To Knit A Hat And Snood Set
Difficulty: Advanced
We have a real treat for those who like a Fair Isle pattern.
This week we are bringing you traditional knitting with a modern twist.
Our hat and snood set features Wensleydale Sheepshop 100% Pure New Wool in White, Rust, Green, Blue and Pale Yellow.
In this week’s magazine, we have an offer on a yarn pack plus the option to buy a Fair Isle book from the designer, Monica Russel.
Both the hat and snood are worked in the round using circular needles and for the hat shaping, double-pointed needles.
The pattern is worked over a 10-stitch and 18-row repeat and we have a colour chart for you to follow.
We recommend using the Fair Isle method, where the yarn not is use is stranded behind the row and caught in every few stitches. This creates a very cosy garment, as it is almost double thickness.
Working with more than one colour at a time takes a bit of practice so we have graded this as an Advanced design. If you are not sure about working with more than one shade, why not try using spare yarn to get a feel for the method?
We have called this duo, “Chill Cheaters”, which is exactly what they are. We love the look of them and hope you will, too.
Many of you have contributed to our Love Darg and there is still time to make a dressing gown or poncho for Knit for Peace. If you need a reminder of what this wonderful charity does, or you need the patterns, please click here. Donations can be sent to:
