International Dog Day: Meet The Dogs Of “The People’s Friend”

As it’s International Dog Day today, 26th August, we thought we’d share some of the “Friend” team’s dog companions.

Dogs are very popular in our workplace. Our office is even trialling “dog-friendly” days where staff can bring their pups into certain areas. . . as long as they’re well-behaved! So, as you can imagine, we all like to celebrate International Dog Day.

I asked the team to share some snaps of their dogs, and they were all too happy to oblige. Head to our Facebook or Twitter and send us some snaps of your pups too!

Tyke: Kirsty, Sub-Editor

Tyke the terrier dog, close up of face dusted with snow on a snowy path

His name is Tyke, and he’s a terrier of some kind. We adopted him when he was 18 months old and his defining characteristic is that he likes to be up a height and will only vaguely attempt to remember his training if you bribe him with food.

Bertie: Manon, Illustrations Commissioning Editor

That’s Bertie, he is a super happy bouncy (Springer spaniel, it’s in the name!) loving dog. He loves to play (he will not be the one to give up first), will find balls in the most unexpected places, but then once inside he happily settles down and cuddle with us, before falling asleep and snoring louder than the TV (alright… not quite. Almost though.)

Roo: Yvonne, Features team

I often take my daughter’s dog, Roo, out for walks – the beach being one of his favourite places. Followed by an ice-cream!

Roshi: Jacki, Sub-Editor

This is Roshi, the gorgeous collie I “borrow” through the “Borrow My Doggie” scheme. She lives close to where I live on the east coast, and I usually walk her once a week. She is an energetic and beautiful wee girl, who is obsessed with chasing balls!
