There’s been an update to “The People’s Friend” team as we welcome our new Digital Content Editor, Jacqueline. Here she tells us a bit about herself and what it’s like joining the team.

Friends call me Jacky, and that’s what we all are here. I’m delighted to be joining the “Friend” and certainly have big shoes to fill after Iain’s departure!

The People's Friend Digital Content Editor, Jacqueline Boland

Although new to the team, I’ve been with DC Thomson for almost 5 years after graduating from university. I’d previously been in our Children’s Magazines department writing about unicorns and videogames and animals!

This is my first week which has gone by incredibly quickly and, surprisingly, with no technical difficulties. (Have I spoken too soon?!). The team, as expected, have been absolutely wonderful, welcoming and supportive.

As “The People’s Friend” Digital Content Editor, I’ll be looking after our website, Facebook, Twitter and podcast (Reading Between The Lines), all with the help from our amazing team. It’s my job to make sure there’s tons of regular content for readers to enjoy.

My favourite part of the role is getting to speak directly to you, the readers. I’m most excited to nurture our big, friendly online community and hear all about readers’ lives, interests, pets and pet peeves.

One of the main things that drew me to “The People’s Friend” was its fantastic fiction and rich history. I adore stories and am an avid reader, mostly of fantasy, but one of my favourite books of all time is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I’m also quite obsessed with Ancient Greece and the classics.

You’ll start to see my name and face pop up a lot more, especially on our regular Friday Facebook Lives, so come and say “hello”! I can’t wait to get to know more of “The People’s Friend” world and its lovely readers.

In a digital role, there’s always more to learn and improve. Is there something more you’d like to see from our online offerings? Let me know! You can email peoplesfriend@dctmedia.co.uk with your thoughts.
