We had a little good news last night . . . “Reading Between The Lines”, our story podcast, has been named Podcast Of The Year by PPA Scotland!
This project began during the first coronavirus lockdown, as a way to keep up with our audience at a difficult time, and to take advantage of all the wonderful stories we have in our Archives.
Our main aim was for you all to enjoy it — and, thankfully, the feedback we’ve had tells us that you have!
And now it’s been recognised by our peers in the publishing industry, too. We couldn’t be more pleased!
A great start
In the beginning, we weren’t quite sure how popular “Reading Between The Lines” would be. We love our stories, of course, and we know that our readers do.
But we also knew that many of our readers weren’t podcast listeners. Would we be able to persuade them to listen to ours?
Uncovering a wonderful theme from our past, and securing the the equally wonderful Neil Brand to perform it for us, was a great start.
Oddfellows on board
Then there’s our sponsor: friendship society the Oddfellows.
As soon as they heard about our plans, they were keen to get involved.
They’re a great fit for “Reading Between The Lines”. Their motto is “be part of a friendlier society”, after all . . . and we like to think we’re doing our part to make that society a reality!
Each episode this season has a little collection of audio clips from Oddfellows members, who have called in to “The People’s Friend” to give us their answers to some important question.
Here, for example. we asked them: “What qualities do you look for in a friend”
