Welcome to this week’s knitting preview!
We have a striking sweater for you this week knitted in a designer yarn.
Our bold sweater is worked in the round using a circular needle. The body is worked up to the armholes then the sleeves are worked separately before all the pieces are put on the one circular needle and the yoke is worked following three simple charts.
The sweater comes in five sizes ranging from 71 cm (28 ins) to 112 cm (44 ins). Actual size is around 10 cm (4 ins) larger so we recommend you work your usual size.
The sweater is worked in Manos Del Uruguay Maxime 5-ply (Aran) in the shades Oxblood (M2176) and Sand (M2241). If you would like to order the yarn direct or view alternative shades, visit www.laughinghens.com.
Manos Del Uruguay aims to give economic, social and personal development opportunities to the women living in Uruguay’s rural areas. A non-profit organisation, it was created in 1968 to give women living in rural communities jobs close to their homes.
It will last a lifetime
The artisans use big pots heated by wood kettles to dye the yarns in small batches, creating wonderful colours. Each skein is then given a tag with the artisan’s signature and the name of the village where the co-operative is located.
We have graded our sweater as intermediate as you do need a bit of skill on working with two yarns, following charts and working in the round.
When it is complete, you will have a stunning garment that is sure to draw compliments. It is one of our more expensive sweaters but properly looked after, it will last a lifetime.
We love this geometric design and hope you do, too.
