“Reading Between The Lines”: The Reviews Are In

We’ve been delighted over the last few weeks to see how popular “Reading Between The Lines”, our new story podcast, has been with our readers.

Or should that be listeners!

It’s been a great project to work on. It’s really satisfying to unearth a gem of a story in our Archives, and it’s exciting when we get to share it with all of you.

A few people have been in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter to pass on their feedback — which has all been very encouraging.

And one or two have even been nice enough to leave us reviews in their podcast app.

We thought we’d share those reviews with you here.

We couldn’t agree more! It’s really struck us that many of the stories we find — from the late 1800s to the early 20th century — could easily slot into a modern issue of “The People’s Friend”.

Not only is the quality of the writing there, but the same “Friend” feel is there, too. Mostly . . .

Here’s another review left for us by a listener:

This came from a promise Digital Ed Iain made in the first episode . . . we can’t guarantee thirty years of stories. But if you keep listening, we’ll keep recording!

Our latest episode

Here’s our latest episode, where we discussed “The Story Of A Masterpiece: An Artist’s Romance” by Agnes Grozier Herbertson.

It’s safe to say opinion on it was divided!

A word from our sponsor

“Reading Between The Lines” is sponsored by friendship society the Oddfellows.

Their members are proving to be big fans; not only are they listening to it, some are even planning to get together on Zoom to talk about the episodes!

We love this idea. If it’s something you would like to see the “Friend” team do too, then please let us know.
