A Little Less Lockdown, A Little More Life

lockdown

Up here in Scotland, the government has eased some of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

As of this past weekend, two households (up to eight people) can now meet outdoors, providing they maintain social distance.

This gave Mrs Digital Ed and I the opportunity to see our respective sets of parents (separately, of course!)

And an outside gathering was no chore at all, considering the scorching weekend weather. The only problem was the sunburn, which I managed to get despite repeated, occasionally aggressive warnings to apply suncream.

Oh, and a dog that steadfastly refused to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

When shall we three meet again?

As I’ve mentioned here before, video calls are a great way of keeping in touch. I don’t think many of us could have lasted through lockdown without them.

And with the “Friend” team working from home for so long, they’ve been handy for making sure we don’t forget what we all look like!

Indeed, we’ve even used them to introduce new staff members, and to say goodbye to some departing ones.

But nothing can really beat seeing someone face-to-face.

Having the chance to speak to our mums and dads in person, even sitting two metres apart, was a great way to spend a day.

I hope we get to spend more days doing just that, very soon.

And if there’s anything positive to come out of this unprecedented time, maybe it’s that we’ll appreciate these little interactions more in future.

I know I certainly will.
