I love to put on a podcast while I’m working from home, or making dinner, or even when I’m going to sleep.
Now that I’ve listened to certain podcasts for a while it’s become comforting, like listening to friends chatting.
I thought I would share a few recommendations, but there is a world of them out there exploring a range of topics, so have a search around — they’re free!
The Dirt
This is a great one for fans of our gardening features! It’s one of our homegrown podcasts, hosted by the editor of “Grow Your Own” magazine.
Join the team through all their successes and failures in the garden, learn their tips and tricks and keep up with the latest gardening news.
The Book Club Review
If you’re missing book club during lockdown, this one is the perfect replacement.
Each episode, Kate, Laura and guests discuss a new book and answer the question — is it a great book club book?
You’ll go back armed with recommendations.
Mel Giedroyc Is Quilting
Mel (of Mel and Sue fame) has started a podcast with Andy Bush, where they aim to make a quilt with bits of fabric sent by friends and listeners. And have a natter while they’re at it!
It’s lovely and relaxing, and it really does feel as though you could be sitting with them in a cosy living room as they chat away and stitch.
Nothing much happens; bedtime stories to help you sleep
Normally, we want stories that excite and intrigue, but these ones have the aim of putting us right to sleep. They’re bedtime stories for adults.
Each story is read out by a soothing voice and then again more slowly.
Give it a go if you have trouble switching off at night. It doesn’t matter if you miss the ending — that’s the point!
