Merry Christmas From The Fiction Team

merry christmas

This is “The People’s Friend” Fiction team wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It’s a time for reflection. So I asked the team: if they could have one wish for Santa to grant them, what would it be?

“If he could give me a teleportation machine, I would be forever grateful!” Manon, Illustrations Editor, said. “A zero carbon emissions one, of course!”

Manon is French, so obviously her family are there. And she lives out of town and has a lengthy commute each morning and evening.

We hear what you’re saying, Manon, and if we could collectively wish for your dream to come true, we would.

Tracey next.

“That’s easy!” she said. “To go into space and have time to get through all the books in my ‘To Be Read’ pile!”

I’m not sure she’d be allowed to pack quite that many books into her space capsule luggage. Maybe she should be asking Santa for an e-reader!

Santa’s magic wand

Alan replied next.

“My Christmas wish — for the ‘Friend’ to continue to bring happiness to her readers for the next 150 years! 🙂 ”

Yes, smiley face included!

I think that’s a wish we all want to come true. The Fiction team will certainly do its best over the coming months and years to continue to provide the very best stories for our readers to enjoy.

And then there’s Lucy.

“I’ve never visited Wales, and I’m hoping that 2020 is the year,” she said. “I’m hoping to see Edward I’s  ‘iron ring’ of castles! Especially Beaumaris, and Caernarfon. That’s my wish.”

I don’t think Lucy needs Santa to make that one come true. A train ticket and she’ll be good to go. Happy travels, Lucy!

Me? I wish Santa could wave a magic wand and I was miraculously able to swim.

Merry Christmas, everyone, from us all!
