Video: Painting “Oor Friend”

Oor Friend

Today’s the day — Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail is officially open. And “Oor Friend” is in it!

The first ever nationwide public art trail will be on the streets of Scotland’s cities for 11 weeks from June 17.

After the public have had the chance to enjoy them, the statues will be auctioned off. The proceeds from this will then go to children’s charities the Archie Foundation Tayside, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

The DC Thomson statue was painted by “The People’s Friend’s” own Illustrations Editor, Sarah Holliday. It has now taken pride of place on Dundee Law, and we couldn’t be happier!

The statue features landmarks from all of the participating cities (Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness). It also showcases some of our magazine’s very first front covers around the “bucket”.

You can read all about Sarah’s time painting “Oor Friend” here, or watch it spectacularly unfold (a little faster than in reality!) in the timelapse video below:

Post your own adventures on the Trail using #OWBBT on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Better still, share your photos with “Oor Friend” on our Facebook or Twitter pages.
